Coding Agents Are the Foundation for Every Agent You'll Ever Build
I wrote this piece for the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as Co-founder & Head of AI Research at Arcade.dev, based on a joint talk I gave with Harrison Chase (LangChain) at the Coding Agents: AI Driven Dev Conference on March 3, 2026.
The argument is simple: coding agents are the foundation for every agent you’ll ever build. The hard patterns for doing real work in the real world - persistent state, tool access, iteration - coding agents already figured out. As we make them better, everything else gets better too.
